Digital India is an initiative put in by Government of India to use Information and Communications Technology or “ICT” as a tool to bring progress and empower The Digital Indian. It is concentrated on the use of information technology in government services. Some actions that have been taken are development, education reform, health care reform, broadband infrastructure expansion project and Digital .
Today, Technology is everywhere and it is also transforming our society by automating a lot of processes. Lets look at how digital transformation has changed the world in India since Digital India is a program led by the government in collaboration with industry bodies for the progression of technology in fields such as rural banking, healthcare, telecommunication among others:
One major way Aadhaar impacts our lives is that it allows for better control over public distribution schemes. Aadhaar helped the state government to identify fake ration cards through an identification social audits and digitize data spread around 600 districts that lacked internet connectivity to identify over 1 lakh bogus KPIs.
Therefore, one disadvantage of Aadhaar Card has been overcome thanks to Digital India and this proves that “technology often solves problems faster than politics can handle.”
The potential for growth in the software and automation industry is great. Estimated to be worth US$200 billion, it constitutes six percent of India’s GDP.Opportunities for Indian entrepreneurs especially exists in the areas of IT services and business process outsourcing. New initiatives are being announced every year to increase digital literacy among Indians as well as to bridge the rural-urban divide by bringing the internet to more remote parts of the country.
